The newest reinvention of the character of the world’s greatest detective officially started last week. The CBS’ modern day interpretation of the Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Watson in the Elementary TV series made a pretty good opening last week. The question that is in my head while watching the Pilot episode was, is Elementary a good adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story? After watching the episode online, my answer is yes. Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu have an excellent “partners” chemistry — Watson is not meant as a love interest for Holmes, at least not at this time. It does have the does have the feel of a crime-of-the-week procedural, but there is still the Arthur Conan Doyle taste into it.
Can the Elementary Season 1 Episode 2 keep up with the hype set by the episode 1? Let’s watch this upcoming episode to find out. This episode is called ‘While You Were Sleeping,’ sounds familiar? The title of this week’s episode is also the same title of Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman movie. However, this episode would not have any likeness to that particular movie. In the Elementary Season 1 Episode 2, Sherlock uses his powers of deduction to consult on the murder of a young man who is shot upon entering his apartment. Meanwhile, Watson has dinner with her ex-boyfriend, Ty Morstan.
