They had experienced the pains and joys of motherhood at very young age. When other girls worry about pimples, crushes, dating and other silly things that ordinary teenager girls worries, the teen moms are worrying about child custody, adoption, marriage, relationships, finance and whole lot of problems that usually faced by adults.

This Tuesday, July 5, 2011 the Teen Mom will return for its third season. On Teen Mom Season 3, Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Maci Bookout will return on the series. The Teen Mom Season 3 will go even deeper into the girls’ lives as they will face their old wounds, struggle to further their education, face strained relationships and strive to give their children the best life possible.

The Teen Mom is a reality TV series aired on MTV. The series is a spin-off of another MTV original reality TV series, the 16 and Pregnant. It premieres on December 2009, and on July 5, 2011 the Teen Mom Season 3 Episode 1 will air on MTV on its usual time slot.

Here’s the short update on the Teen Moms:

Amber Portwood

Among the four teen moms, Amber is the most controversial. Her on-off relationship with her boyfriend and her baby’s father, Gary Shirly are becoming rather intense. She was arrested for domestic violence against Gary, and her televised assault on ex-boyfriend Gary sparked hundreds of public complaints questioning her suitability to be a mother. Amber’s temper is still getting the best of her.

On June 15 this year, Amber was reported to attempt a suicide. This report was confirmed by a 911 call made by Gary, She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where it was determined that mental problems caused the attempt.

Maci Bookout

Maci is my personal favorite among the four teens. She is described by MTV as the classic teenage overachiever who is popular, athletic, and successful in school. She gives birth to her son named Bentley. She has gone back to college after dropping her online classes, and now is majoring in journalism and hopes to write a book about her experience being sixteen and pregnant. She also speaks at local high schools to talk about teen pregnancy.

Rumors have been circulating that Maci and Ryan (the father of her son) may be engaged, and are keeping it a secret because it’s a big storyline on the show. Only time will tell if the rumors are true

Farrah Abraham

Farrah is doing her best as a single mother. She is still dealing with the death of daughter Sophia’s father, Derek Underwood, who was killed in a car accident before she give birth to Sophia. She also had a strained relationship with her own mother. Aside from getting a breast augmentation, Farrah contemplates moving from Iowa to Florida. Farrah is also busy trying potty training Sophia, while trying to work and finish college.

She is seeing a therapist to discuss the rocky relationship with her family, as well as dealing with her emotions regarding Underwood and his death.

Catelynn Lowell

Catelynn and boyfriend Tyler Baltierra are still very much in love, and continue to learn to live without their daughter, Carly, whom they gave up for adoption. Lowell and Baltierra consider moving in together, but their families don’t approve.

The couple try to finish their final year of high school, and even get to visit Carly again, who has grown a lot. Catelynn and Tyler are even planning their future, saying they plan to marry and have four children.
