Cyberbully Movie
Cyberbullying is one the growing problem caused by the open use of technologies. The unmonitored use of internet, cellphones, iPads and other devices used by minors often lead to cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is defined as the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Commonly, cyberbullying it occurs among young people. When an adult is involved, it may meet the definition of cyber-harassment or cyber-stalking, a crime that can have legal consequences and involve jail time
According psychologist cyberbullying is as much as damaging to being bullied physically. Sometimes it can be more damaging than physically bullying because cyberbullying has no longer limited to schoolyards or street corners, modern-day bullying can happen at home as well as at school — essentially 24 hours a day. And, for kids who are being cyberbullied, it can feel like there’s no escape. Severe cyberbullying can leave victims at greater risk for anxiety, depression, and other stress-related disorders. In some cases, especially there’s no intervention from adult, kids have turned to suicide.
To help solve the problem of cyberbullying, the ABC Family created produced the Cyberbully movie to raise awareness among kids, parents, and adults about cyberbullying.
The Cyberbully Movie is scheduled to air its premiere broadcast on Sunday, July 17, 2011 on ABC Family. ABC Family worked with Seventeen Magazine to make the film, and hope it will “delete digital drama”. The movie stars Emily Osment (Hannah Montana), Kay Panabaker and Kelly Rowan.
Cyberbully Plot:
The film follows Taylor Hillridge, a teenage girl who receives a computer for her birthday from her mom. Taylor is excited by the independence of going online without her mother always watching her. However, Taylor soon finds herself the victim of cyber-bullying while visiting a social website. She becomes afraid to face her friends, including her best friend Samantha, and is pushed to a breaking point. Taylor’s mom learns from the incident and takes on the school system and state legislation to prevent others from going through the same problem as her daughter.
